There’s lots of ways to join Giving Tuesday and support Opportunity Council on this global day of giving. In no particular order, our top 5 ways to support Opportunity Council this year:

Give Time

Opportunity Council is a Community Action Agency, and there’s no more potent community action than volunteering. Give the gift of your time and volunteer for Opportunity Council programs like SHIBA, Maple Alley Inn, or find your passion through the Whatcom Volunteer Center.

Share Your Story

Have you benefitted from the help available at Opportunity Council? Consider sharing your story with the people you know or publicly through our share your story page. Sharing your story helps make our entire community stronger by reducing stigma, increasing understanding, and increasing support for our community’s safety net.

Give Money

Financial donations are vital to be able to serve as many people in need as possible. As a Community Action Agency, Opportunity Council often helps people access publicly-funded aid like emergency rental assistance and Head Start. But all too often that aid alone isn’t enough to keep people from falling through the cracks, by donating to Opportunity Council’s Greatest Need fund, you make sure help is there whenever people need it.

Share Your Skills

Handy around the house or love puttering in your garden? Check out CHORE and help older adults and more vulnerable neighbors remain independent and in their homes.

Share Our Mission

Community Action changes people’s lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America and our communities  better places to live.

At Opportunity Council, we have the privilege of carrying out that promise on the ground, every day. But we know we’re not the only ones who care about building a community where everyone has the chance to thrive and contribute. By sharing your support, following Opportunity Council on social media, participating in fundraising events, and helping spread the word about our mission and services, you help carry on that promise and are part of building a brighter future for us all.
