Join us  at the 2nd Annual Catherine Mahaffey East Whatcom Wellness Fair! Free services and resources will be offered by local providers including VSP Vision Care, PeaceHealth, Sea Mar Community Health Centers, and others. The fair will also offer entertainment, a free handcrafted lunch from the Common Threads Food Truck, snacks, and activities for children and people of all ages and stages of health.

Free to attend, the Wellness Fair is named in honor of the late Catherine Mahaffey, a philanthropist deeply invested in the health and well-being of the people in her East Whatcom community. The event brings free and much-needed health services to a region where healthcare is often an hour or more away.

All East Whatcom community members are invited to attend this free event, and interpretation for Spanish, Mixteco and Russian will be available on-site. No insurance is necessary to receive services. People needing transportation or who are interested in receiving basic medical screenings, dental procedures, vision checks, and other services and activities should register online before the event. For accommodations such as ASL interpretation, please send a request to Jessica Bee (jessica_bee@oppco.org) by noon on Monday, May 15. Please note that while every effort will be made to support guests accessing care, there is no guarantee of service.

This event is made possible through the collaboration of the following agencies: Sea Mar Community Health Center, United Healthcare of Washington, PeaceHealth, Medical Teams International, VSP Vision Care, Health Ministries Network, Opportunity Council, Whatcom County Health Department, Molina Healthcare of Washington, Northwest Regional Council, the Area Health Education Center of Western Washington, and many additional local service providers offering resources, education, and giveaways.

Donations of children’s bikes, helmets, large event tents, and financial gifts are also appreciated. Donations of bikes and scooters for ages 3 to 18 to be used in a safety course run by SmartTrips can be delivered to the East Whatcom Regional Resource Center during normal hours or at the Bellingham Administration Office weekdays between the hours of 8:30 and 2:00 pm.
