Oak Harbor will soon be the home of our new affordable housing project, adding to our rapidly growing list. Camas Flats will give options to Oak Harbor residents and families with a mix of low and moderate incomes, as well as other populations that need support the most.

The property will have 81 affordable units of new construction, including eight that are specifically Permanent Supportive Housing for those experiencing homelessness and two units for Veterans. There will be plenty of facilities on-site to address other needs that tenants have.

This partnership with Shelter Resources, Inc. will provide one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom units, plus one manager’s unit. Residents will also have the benefit of using the large playground and park and an expansive community building on-site.

At this building, they can do their laundry in the community laundry facility, gather in the community space, attend group meetings in the flex space, and visit management offices and services provider offices housed there.

The project will be for mixed-income community members, with those eligible ranging from 30% to 80% of the area median income. The groundbreaking will happen later in 2023 or in early 2024.

Shelter Resources, Inc. Is an affordable housing developer based in Western Washington. The project is also funded by Island County, Washington State Housing Finance Commission, Washington State Department of Commerce, and the Housing Authority of Island County.

Our Camas Flats partnership with Shelter Resources, Inc. offers housing for mixed-income Oak Harbor residents and families; people experiencing homelessness; and Veterans. Camas Flats dwellers will also have access to a playground and park, and a community building with laundry, meeting space, and more.
