For individuals and families experiencing homelessness, or at risk of becoming homeless, Opportunity Council may be able to help.

From help paying rent to transitional and permanent housing, and other prevention and housing services—skilled Opportunity Council case managers and staff are available to help people navigate the complex system of available services to find their way home.

Housing Services

Preventing homelessness costs at least five times less than helping a family regain stable housing after it is lost. When a family is in danger of losing its home in a crisis, Opportunity Council may be able to help. Please contact the closest Opportunity Council Resource Center for help or more information.

Dorothy Place

A secure 22-unit facility in Bellingham is one of our programs that provides support services and housing for families and individuals who have experienced or are survivors of domestic violence. Support services include case management, vocational classes, and goal setting.

Marjie’s House

Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF)

The Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program provides housing and support services to those who have served in active military, naval or air service and their families.   The program aims to serve those that are at risk of homelessness or who are homeless.

Whatcom Homeless Service Center

This program provides a coordinated entry to local housing programs such as eviction prevention, rental assistance and other services to prevent and end homelessness using “housing-first” strategies.

The Whatcom Homeless Service Center is housed at the Opportunity Council and supported with funds made available through the Department of Commerce; State of Washington; Whatcom County; City of Bellingham and other public and private sources.

WHSC Homeless Outreach Team

An outreach program in Bellingham connecting persons experiencing homelessness with services and supporting community members in working through issues surrounding homelessness.
