Opportunity Council’s Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) has expanded to help make sure everyone in our community has access to a regular hot shower. The Street Hygiene Outreach Team operates a three-bay shower trailer behind Bellingham City Hall 210 Lottie Street every Friday through Sunday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Opportunity Council’s Homeless Outreach Team will be onsite to help people review rules for safety and access the showers.

Anyone using the shower truck is asked to review the rules for safety, sign up, and agree to sign a liability waiver.

Anyone in need of an ADA-accessible shower should contact the Homeless Outreach Team directly at 360-312-3717 to make special arrangements.

We encourage guests who show up and don’t see the trailer to stick around until it returns. The shower truck can only hold so much gray water – this just means our team member Dane is out dumping the gray water tank, and he’ll come right back! Feel free to chat with staff or stop by the food bank in the meantime.

How access to showers helps:

  • Lowers risk for disease and infection
  • Maintains hygiene routines
  • Provides opportunities to connect with other services
  • Helps provide dignity and respect

The Homeless Outreach Team accepts donations of unused travel-sized hygiene items such as shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream, mouthwash, sunscreen and period products. Please no bulky or highly fragranced items. Donations may be dropped off at 1419 Cornwall Ave during our regular business hours or purchased directly from the Homeless Outreach Team’s Amazon WishList.

To help ensure no one in our community is left behind, donate directly to the Homeless Outreach Team. Other ideas on how you can help? Contact ocdonations@oppco.org or call (360) 734-5121 x 1332.
