We’re thrilled to announce that the wait is almost over – our brand-new Camas Flats development in Oak Harbor is ready for pre-leasing, and the interest list is officially OPEN! Helping create these new homes for the community has been a labor of love, and we can’t wait to welcome new residents to this wonderful space.
A Look at Our Progress
We have partnered with Shelter Resources, Inc. on various affordable housing projects over the past couple years, and the progress on Camas Flats is truly exciting! Builders have completed the framing and roofing, the windows have been installed, and the homes are now getting their final coats of paint. It’s amazing to see the transformation as each piece of the puzzle falls into place.

What To Expect
Camas Flats will feature 81 affordable units that are set up to meet the needs of households, so many different types of families, adults, and households. Whether residents are looking for a cozy one-bedroom or need space for a large family, we’ve got them covered. Here’s what to expect:
- 1, 2, and 3-bedroom units with 1 or 2 bathrooms
- Spacious floor plans to make sure there’s plenty of room for everyone
- Air conditioning in all homes – no more sweating through summer!
- A community room for residents to gather and connect
- A playground for kids to enjoy
- Units for large families and households of people with disabilities, so everyone has a comfortable space to call home
- A convenient location close to local schools, services, and the unique amenities Oak Harbor has to offer
In addition to physical spaces that meet people’s needs, we know not everyone has the connections and support we all need to make a home. To help meet the unique needs of folks, Camas Flats will have dedicated units for those experiencing homelessness, as well as two units specifically reserved for Veterans. We’re proud to be a part of the solution to make sure everyone in Island County has a place to call home.
Who Should Sign Up for the Interest List?
Anyone who may be on the hunt for a new, affordable place to live. Anyone joining the interest list now will be among the first to know when the official applications are available. This will help us get a better idea of the unique needs and interests of who’s interested and ensure that we match people with the right home when the time comes.
We know that the application process can sometimes feel overwhelming, so that’s why Opportunity Council is here to help every step of the way. If you or someone you know need help, feel free to drop by or call the Island County Resource Center in Oak Harbor office, and we will be happy to help you fill out the application form.
For folks just looking to access a computer so they can fill out the application, Sno-Isle Libraries offer free access to computers for anyone who needs them.
