Energy Assistance Updates

Opportunity Council’s Energy Assistance season

PLEASE NOTE:  This is an update primarily for WHATCOM County.

Energy Assistance has filled all regular, non-crisis appointments.  We will have more regular appointments available starting on May 30th for PSE HELP and CNG WEAF for those whom have not already received these programs since October 1, 2016.

We will continue to have a limited number of crisis appointments available on a weekly basis throughout May.  To qualify for a crisis, you must either be facing imminent disconnection (within the current week), had been disconnected for nonpayment, or have less than a 7 day supply of wood, or 10% of propane/oil remaining).  Our crisis appointments are funded from our regular energy assistance programs (LIHEAP/PSE HELP/CNG WEAF/CNG Winter Help); we do not have additional programs to help with crisis if you have already received these programs since October 1, 2016.

To see if you qualify for an appointment, please call the Energy Assistance Scheduling and Information Line at (360) 255-2192 for Whatcom County residents.  This phone line is normally available Monday-Thursday from 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm and Friday from 9am-12pm.

For information regarding Island County’s scheduling availability, please call (360) 679-6577, Mondays-Thursdays from 9am-12pm, 1pm-4pm, and Fridays 9am-12pm.

For information regarding LIHEAP assistance in San Juan County, please contact your local Family Resource Center.  Please note: program and scheduling availability for energy assistance in San Juan County may vary from Whatcom and Island Counties.  To find out more information, please contact your local resource center for more information.
